Come out and support Singing Oaks Church of Christ Troop 61 as they raise money for camp. They will be holding a car wash at Singing Oaks Church of Christ parking lot at 101 Cardinal Dr. or (East McKinney and Loop 288). You decide the price and they make it to camp.

Loop 288 will be closed at the crossing May 1-2, starting at 10 p.m. Saturday and ending 7 a.m. Sunday to allow workers to set bridge beams. Because this will be a full closure, message boards and signs will be used to guide motorists through an alternate route. The Texas Department of Public Safety has approved the closure. The bridge work is part of the A-train passenger rail project that will connect Denton and Dallas counties.

Various lanes of the I-35 northbound frontage road just north of Corinth Parkway in Corinth will be closed April 19-24 between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to allow signal work. Flaggers will be used to direct traffic. The North Texas Rail Group asks that motorists proceed with caution through the construction area. Our hopes of an economic recovery did not materialize as the upward trend from January did not continue in February. Sales in Feb 2010 took another negative dip.

As you can see from the chart, January sales took a sharp turn upward over last year. Each year is compared to the previous year to show the percentage change. This is a good indicator that the economy might be on the upswing finally. We will have to watch this and hopefully it will continue over the next several months.

I have lived in a couple of medium size cities in my years, but I can’t recall any being more in tune with their citizens than Denton TX. While the other cities had plenty of acreage set aside for parks, none had the quality, affordable and fun activies presented by the Denton Parks Department. If you are new to the Denton area and just bought your new Denton home, look for the guide or visit the website where you can register for a variety of activities.
